Pilates is a low-impact exercise program which can help to develop whole body strength, improve flexibility and achieve efficient movement and function. Pilates can be beneficial for all body types and all ages from young to less young.
We request that all new clients in the group classes have a one-off initial assessment prior to starting the group classes so that we can assess you properly and ensure that the exercises are tailored to your needs so that you can work to your best level.
Practicing Pilates 2 – 3 times per week is most effective. We understand that you may not always be able to attend classes this frequently and so recommend that you find time to practice at home. After your initial assessment we will recommend a few exercise which you can do at home and these will be updated during your classes.
Please come dressed in something you feel comfortable to exercise in, shorts, tracksuit bottoms or leggings are a good idea. If you have grippy socks these can also be useful.
Classes can be run in your own home or if it is a group class you are after these are held at SW19 Sweat Studio.
All classes are 50 minutes. Please could you arrive 5 minutes early.
Please could you give 24 hours notice should you need to cancel or rearrange your session. If you cancel within the 24 hour period you will be charged for that class.
Yes. All the exercises can be modified for each individual’s needs to accommodate for any pain or stiffness. There is a strong focus on mobility exercises which can be effective when managing stiffness.
Yes, absolutely. Backs love the combination of strengthening, mobility and general movement.
Yes, the exercises can be modified if you feel unstable on your feet. Additionally, the exercises can help to improve your balance.
Yes. All the exercises can be modified to suit new-comers to exercise.
Your baby is most welcome in our home-based 1:1 or 1:2 classes. If you are in a group class with other new mums your babies are most welcome. We ask that the little ones who can crawl either stay in their buggy or with mum.
